Position: Public Relations Intern
Description: The public relations intern is responsible for working closely with the Director of Marketing to develop and pitch campaign to national and local media. The intern will also be responsible for updating and maintaining the media contact database.
Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate with the Director of Marketing to see that all media deadlines are met and projects are completed within the prescribed timelines. Assist with press release distribution to the media and follow-up calling for post release. Handle special projects and ad hoc requests as needed.
Qualifications: Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or equivalent. Ability to take direction and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts. Ability to work well with others in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements: Must present writing samples for consideration from course work and/or previous professional work. Must submit a letter of recommendation from one professor or previous employer.
Compensation: $8.00 – 9.00 per hour (roughly 20 hours per week)
Program Start: Feb/March
Program End: Oct/Nov
