Gatorland Hosts Aug. 4 Motor Wheelchair Rally For Military Wheelchair Athletes        As Sponsor of National Veterans Wheelchair Games In Orlando This Week ORLANDO, Florida (July 31, 2018)   –   Gatorland® is proud to be a sponsor of the 38th National Veteran’s Wheelchair Games in Orlando this week with more than 650 military veterans who are wheelchair athletes from the U.S., Great Britain and Puerto Rico expected to compete in 19 medal-awarding events throughout different locations in town.  The “Alligator Capital of the World” will be hosting the Motor Wheelchair Rally on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for veterans in motorized and manual wheelchairs to go around the park with their caretakers to enjoy Gatorland’s “natural Florida” scenic route. Halloween Rock Stars

Meet Gatorland’s Halloween Rock Stars:   Elvira The Tarantula, A White Reticulated Python Named Casper and Athena The Owl ORLANDO, Florida (Oct. 29, 2018)   –   Gatorland®, the “Alligator Capital of the World,” not only has famous alligators and crocodiles but their very own Halloween celebrities.  Elvira The Tarantula is one of six five-year-old Arizona Blonde Tarantulas who were given to the park by a family whose kids went off to college.  They weigh just a couple ounces each and dine on crickets.  They can be seen at Gatorland during the Up-Close Encounters Show, the Gator Night Shine Experience or Trainer For A Day. Athena, a beautiful Eastern Great Horned Owl was given to Gatorland by the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Central Florida.  She was considered non-releasable from a fractured wing as a fledgling.  Gatorland estimates her age to be about 20 years [...]

World Turtle Day

Celebrate World Turtle Day May 23 With Visit To Gatorland Home To Three Of The Largest Tortoise Species In The World ORLANDO, Florida (May 21, 2018)  –  May 23 is World Turtle Day and Gatorland®, the “Alligator Capital of the World,” is inviting the public to come and get to know their three resident tortoises, which are among the largest tortoise species in the world.   Dean is a 102-year-old Aldabra Tortoise weighing 500 pounds.  Kendrick is a 57-year-old Sulcata African Spurred Tortoise, weighing in at 200 pounds and Lucy, is a 29-year-old Galapagos Tortoise that weights 300 pounds.
