Gatorland’s Savannah Boan Joins Crocodylus Park founder and his team for two-week conservation study of Australia’s Saltwater and Freshwater Crocodiles

ORLANDO, Florida, USA (Feb. 20, 2020)  –  Gatorland®, the “Alligator Capital of the World,” is going down under this month as the park’s conservation arm, Gatorland Global, partners with Crocodylus Park in Darwin, Australia for joint studies of the native Saltwater and Freshwater crocodiles, ranging in size from newborn hatchlings to giant adults.  Savannah Boan, International Ambassador for Gatorland Global, was invited by Professor Grahame Webb, founder of Crocodylus Park and a world-renowned crocodile biologist, to join him and his team for two weeks of conservation collaboration.

Boan has had a life-long passion for the study of alligators and crocodiles, and became the Crocodilian Enrichment Coordinator, Director of Social Media and International Ambassador of Gatorland Global after joining Gatorland in 2016. Under her direction, Gatorland Global has supported conservation efforts of several species of crocodiles from South Florida, Cuba, Jamaica, India, and now in Australia through the new relationship with Crocodylus Park.

“Gatorland has been the leader in alligator safety, education and research for over 70 years in Florida,” states Mark McHugh, President & CEO of Gatorland.  “Gatorland Global has allowed us to expand our conservation efforts around the world, and we are incredibly excited to work with Professor Webb and his amazing team at Crocodylus Park.”

Gatorland Global was established in 2017 with the mission To Protect, Conserve and Educate.  Current projects are working successfully to protect and conserve wild populations of American alligators, American crocodiles, Cuban crocodiles and now, Australian Saltwater and Freshwater crocodiles, while educating hundreds of thousands of people on these amazing animals through Gatorland’s exciting social media platforms.

Gatorland is a 100-acre theme park combining Old Florida charm with exciting experiences, exhibits, and entertainment, including the brand new White Gator Swamp with the largest collection of rare leucistic and albino alligators in the U.S. Originally opened as a roadside attraction in 1949, the park just celebrated its 70th Anniversary.
